The effect of addition of vegetable waste on microbial fuel cell performance

چکیده

In the past few years fuel cell has become centre of attention scientific community for possibility converting organic waste into electricity directly through redox reactions with help bacteria or enzymes. The purpose this study was to determine value MFC performance due influence adding vegetable waste. soil media used is obtained from agricultural areas. system in a single chamber vessel volume 500 mL. types electrodes are carbon fibres anode thickness 0.5 cm and cathode 1.0 cm, as well diameter 8.0 8.5 cm. Vegetable wastes were given 5 mg / L each chamber. results showed that highest power generated microbial spinach produced 250 mW (49 mW/cm2). incubation period can reach 30 days. Variation second rinse concentration 499 ppm will have pH having pretty good linear correlation 0.9536 more electric generated. by 6 series circuit 1.00 mW, while parallel 0.831mW.
